What if your problems just need a perspective shift?
We’ve all seen those optical illusions and heated debates on our Facebook feed:
The truth is it’s both - it just depends on your perspective!
A friend of mine always asks me, “Are you looking at this from 5,000 ft or 50,000 ft?” When you are too close to something you usually see things from 5,000ft., which means you’re usually too close to to see any other outcome.
Looking at the big picture requires us to look past what we think we know so we can see things clearly from all sides. Then we can find what we actually need.
It requires us to see the problem in front of us from 50,000 ft. so we can get perspective.

I find that when I am really frustrated at something, the problem I can identify is rarely what is actually bothering me. The real thorn in my side is many layers deeper.
The same is usually the same with my clients when it comes to their branding problems, which is why it’s so important to have someone in your corner to see things a little differently.
What you think is a marketing strategy issue could really be that you don’t know what your clients are REALLY buy from you.
What you think is a website problem could actually be a problem with your profit model. Maybe you need a new website but will it fix the real problem?

Learn to fall in love with the problem. What you resist, persists.
Focus on the process before the solution.
Most of us start by doing the opposite. Searching for the right answer, the right partner, the perfect dress, the right strategy to “fix” our problems.
Whether it’s personal or professional, the real answer usually starts with learning to shift our perspective for how we look at the problem.
You’re looking for love? Maybe the answer is learning to love yourself.
You’re striving for more (money, clients, etc)? Maybe the answer is learning to be grateful for what you have.
Haven’t we all worked really hard for something we thought would solve all our problems, only to be disappointed when it didn’t. By focusing on the problem, all you’re going to find is more proof that you have a problem!
What if you could be happy in exactly what’s happening now. Then from a place of enough find a way to turn good into great!
So how do you get to 50,000 ft?
Be specific. Get clear on what is actually getting in the getting in your way. Chances are your problem isn’t really your problem.
Take risks. Put yourself out there, be generous with your heart and compassionate with yourself. No one said this was going to be easy.
Release control. It is really all just an illusion anyway.
Let go of the fear of the unknown. This isn’t a guarantee of success, but chances are what you are doing now isn’t either.
The answers we’re looking for are out there, if we’re brave enough to ask the questions.
If we are always looking for more without appreciating what we already have, we will just end up in the same place. Wanting more.
Creating a solution that lasts requires us to look past the symptoms and find for the cause of our problems.
Be prepared, they may not be the answers we want to hear. And usually they will involve more work than we want to do, but it is worth it.
